The Management Committee of the Walking Football Leagues’ Alliance (‘WFLA’) are pleased to announce that Prostate Cancer UK will be sponsoring the WFLA League Champions Cup competition for 2026.
Derek Murr, the WFLA’s Treasurer said, “I am extremely pleased that the WFLA were able to retain Prostate Cancer UK as its sponsor for the 2026 WFLA League Champions Cup competition. With the help of competing leagues/clubs/teams during 2025 we were able to raise £870 for this worthy charity.“
“It is the WFLA’s intention for the 2026 competition to come up with a scheme that the WFLA will be able to make a significant charitable donation that will see us exceed this years result. Further details on this will be announced by the end of October 2025.”
Jack Bacon from Prostate Cancer UK said: “We’re so grateful for the support of the WFLA and are delighted to be working with them again. I have no doubt building on the success from last season that this year will be even bigger and better”
“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and an early diagnosis can save your life, but more men still need to be aware of the risk of prostate cancer. Men are at higher risk if they are over 50, Black or, have a father or brother who has had prostate cancer.”
“The WFLA and our amazing fundraisers across the UK are a brilliant demonstration of people coming together against prostate cancer. From walking football, running, cycling and baking, they’re all doing something great to fund more ground-breaking research and work towards a screening programme, to catch prostate cancer early and save lives. Anyone with concerns should visit the charity’s online risk checker.”
Please Note – Further details on all WFLA age-based cup competitions for 20206 and details of where and when the ‘Finals’ will be played are to be issued by the end of October 2025.
