Further to the advice received from the WFLA’s Womens’ Tournaments Organiser, and after consultation with the WFLA Management team, we regret that certainly at the present time, running both the Inter League Cup and League Champions Cup women’s age categories is not cost effective.
To make any age category viable we need 6 teams in each age category for the Finals. Sadly, this has never happened since the formation of the WFLA. We have also had withdrawals, some at a very late date, causing late fixture amendments and difficulties with pitch hire and referee allocations.

2024 – 40s 2 teams, 50s 2 teams, both played
2025 – 40s 5 teams, 50s 4 teams, both played
2026 – 40s 3 teams, 50s 2 teams, no competition
League Champions Cup
2022 – no entries
2023 – no entries
2024 – 40s 5 teams, 50s 2 teams, both played
2025 – 40s 4 teams, 50s 2 teams, 4 teams mixed competition
2026 – 40s 4 teams, 50s 2 teams, no competition
As with the men’s game, the allure of playing for one of the 3 England organisations national teams, now seems to take priority over club and other tournament fixtures.
We regret having to make this decision and hopefully with the women’s game growing steadily perhaps in the future there will be enough interest to make these age categories viable.
