During the process of this poll/vote we have received some feedback as to why the WFLA wishes to now allow non-FA affiliated Leagues in as members? So for full transparency, the key factors that influenced the WFLA Management Committee to request this change were;
1. The FA have never acknowledged WFLA’s existence, its help and its support in promoting of walking football.
2. No WFLA Officer has ever been invited onto the FA Advisory Board for walking football. Even though members of the WFLA Management Committee have considerable experience in the running of walking football events and competitions.
3. We dropped the WFLA National Cup in 2025 & 2026 in order to give the FA support for their own National Cup. No acknowledgement of this kind gesture has ever been received. This decision in itself severely impacted on the finances of the WFLA.
4. The WFLA Officers are all in agreement that we owe the FA nothing whatsoever, as our original mission was to promote FA affiliation for walking football leagues. Unfortunately this was not reciprocated.
You should note that the WFLA will continue its efforts to work with the FA, as and when asked, and other walking football organisations to help us all in setting up a Standard Code of Rules across all walking football competitions.
If your League meets the WFLA membership requirements go here.
