WFLA Looking To Appoint A Treasurer – Applications Required

With the appointment of Derek Murr to the role of the Walking Football Leagues’ Alliance’s (‘WFLA’) Chairman the WFLA are now looking for a replacement Treasurer. The new Treasurer needs to be in place directly after the AGM.

Role Title: Treasurer of The Walking Football Leagues’ Alliance.

The Role: We are seeking an individual that is able to provide the WFLA with sound financial administration so that all aspects of the WFLA’s funds are properly managed and accounted for. The appointee will ensure that the financial and risk management affairs of the WFLA are kept in good order and that the annual accounts, annual and monthly financial and risk management reports are submitted to other members of the WFLA’s Management Committee and WFLA members, as and when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To oversee the financial side of all WFLA’s activities.
  • To be responsible for the WFLA accounts, and monthly and yearly reports, and each WFLA events’ profit and loss are reported and recorded.
  • To oversee the management of all transactions that are payable to the WFLA.
  • To ensure all WFLA Financial Statements are prepared and are done so in a simple manner to ensure a basic understanding of all events and outcomes and that they give a true and fair view of the assets, liabilities, and financial position of the WFLA at any given time. These will include Income and Expenditure accounts for each WFLA competition.
  • To ensure prompt payment of all WFLA’s expenditure, including Referees fees and service providers.
  • To ensure the  collection of fines, sponsorship agreements. membership fees and event fees and charitable donations are done in a timely manner
  • To keep all records and accounts safely for the duration of office. This includes registering a new bank account and further signatories upon the hand over the WFLA’s accounts and duties from the current WFLA Treasurer.
  • To work with the WFLA auditor to ensure that the WFLA’ financial statements for a financial year end, which comprises the Income and Expenditure, Financial Statements, Balance Sheet and a Financial Summary including any notes set out, are reviewed and verified prior to publication.

What We Are Looking For (In the Person):

  • Has proven financial experience in a similar organisation as the WFLA.
  • Has a strong understanding of governance, compliance, and financial stewardship of a non-political; and not-for-profit organisation.
  • Has excellent communication, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Has a knowledge of spreadsheets and financial analysis tools.
  • Has a clear passion for WFLA’s core purpose and values as set out in our pledge that:
    • The WFLA will always be a free to join and not-for-profit organisation; a non-political, independent support network whose aims are to help establish, promote, and support all walking football leagues.
    • The WFLA will continue its efforts to work with all organisations to help them set up the Standard Code of Rules across all walking football competitions.
    • The WFLA will continue to look for new member leagues and encourage the growth of grassroots football through competitive walking football in safe environments. This is not negotiable.
    • The WFLA will continue to strengthen its Committees and panel of Referees with individuals who have the same values and commitment.
