The WFLA has joined forces with Prostate Cancer UK to help save men’s lives and to that end leading men’s health charity in the UK will be the sponsor of the Walking Football Leagues Alliance League Champions Club Cup in 2025.
Derek Murr, WFLA’s Treasurer said “Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It affects 1 in 8 men; that’s dads, brothers, partners, best mates and a lot of men who play walking football. Our players range from 40’s up to men in their 70 and 80s. Walking football is a fantastic way to keep fit, enjoy our passion for football but it’s also a great audience to talk about men’s health and prostate cancer risk specifically. I’m very aware men over 50, Black men and men with a family history of prostate cancer are at greater risk so we can share this message during our 2025 competition. Prostate Cancer UK has a strong pedigree in football and we hope to help them continue this legacy in walking football now too; as well as raising funds to stop men dying of prostate cancer. We look forward to working together with Prostate Cancer UK in 2025.”
As part of this new and exciting partnership, Prostate Cancer UK will be sponsoring the 2025 WFLA League Champions Cup ‘Finals’ trophies. The League Champions Club ‘Finals’ are being played at Coleshill Town FC’s Pack Meadow, Packington Lane, Coleshill on Sunday 27th of July 2025.
The booking form for this event is here. This competition is open to all WFLA member leagues by invitation to a team who were the Champions of the top division as at the 31st December 2024 of leagues affiliated to the WFLA across all age categories.
